Who Do We Think We Are?

The History Of Mustardseed Media, Inc.

Bob Christenson is the sole owner and media producer at Mustardseed Media. He has over 15 years of experience in producing and designing media for the marketplace.

Starting young, he opened a music recording studio at 15 in an old barn, producing and recording CD's there for the next 6 years. During this time, he attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in Telecommunications Media Arts. It was there that he starting producing short films and music videos, coding html and dabbling in Photoshop.

Upon graduation, Bob opened Flat Hat Productions, a 'one stop shop' for local recording artists. A professional 96-track recording studio that also held the tools to produce music videos, short films and do graphic layouts for bands of all stripes.

After 3 years of running the business, the experience landed him a producing and engineering gig at a major label recording studio. Here he obtained hands on studio time with national recording acts....But about this time...God started tugging on his heart.

After 2 years of studio work at this facility, Bob started to feel that God wanted something different from him. With no plan whatsoever, he walked away from recording secular music to find out what that plan was. Within a month, a door opened.

Finding The Calling...

An established and large congregation was planting a post-modern, media-driven church and they were looking for a worship coordinator and media designer. The role felt exactly right, and Bob joined the team as a full time staff member. On a daily basis he was designing print materials, websites, producing weekly video, organizing and producing live worship services and directing a volunteer media team of 20.

It is here that he got 'in the trenches' ministry experience. He now understood ministries, how they ran, what the budgets looked like, and most importantly, why they were struggling to keep up with the design and media that mainstream culture was churning out...It was all about the money.

Bob saw that ministries couldn't afford to hire high end designers and that great artists weren't clamoring to volunteer at church...after 3 years as a staff designer, he felt the pull again....

Starting Mustardseed Media

This time, the pull was to start Mustardseed Media. There was a huge need for affordable and professional web and print design. It was essential to ministry. Bob saw that if a ministry lacked these essential post-modern tools, they lacked the ability to share the gospel to a new generation. So, Mustardseed was formed with the goal of giving ministries the pro design they needed at a price their budgets could afford.
